Grammys Expand Category Noms From Five to Eight

Grammy Awards

The Grammys have added more nominations in four major categories including best album, record and song of the year, and best new artist. The nominees will increase from five to eight effective immediately. The move was made to include more women and to be more diverse when choosing winners in certain categories.

This past year was a little rough for the Grammy Awards, the organization was criticized for not including enough women in some categories, and for lacking on recognizing women artists. Voting for next year's nominees will take place this fall and the 61st Annual Grammy Awards will air in the spring of 2019.
