Chicago's Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot Gets Sworn Into Office May 20

Chicago will officially get a new mayor on May 20. Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot's mayoral inauguration will be held at the Wintrust Arena in the South Loop.

On Monday doors will open at 8 a.m., the ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and the swearing-in ceremony happens at 10:30. The inauguration festivities are free and open to the public, however you have to register for a ticket and you can do that by hitting up Ms. Lightfoot's website at https://bettertogetherchicago.com/inauguration/. If you can't attend in person, I'm pretty sure the networks will be streaming the ceremony live.

There will be performances by the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus, the Chicago Sinfonietta and more.

After the ceremony, Ms. Lightfoot and her wife will hold an open house at City Hall, which is also open to the public but no tickets are required. There are other planned activities throughout the week.

Congratulations soon-to-be-Mayor Lightfoot. Let's move Chicago forward.
