Chicago Beaches Open Memorial Day Weekend

Chicago area beaches are set to open Friday, which is the kick off to Memorial Day weekend, which is also the unofficial start to summer.

There are more than 26 miles of beaches along Lake Michigan and because there is a lot of rain expected over the holiday weekend, I'm not sure how crowded they will be.

Beaches are generally open from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. (always check signage though) and swimming is allowed when lifeguards are on duty each day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Whether you hit the beach this weekend, hang out at a barbecue, or if you prefer to just stay at home, enjoy the holiday and be safe.
